Budget Woes.

What do we feel will come out of this man's mouth? Smokers! I'd say your days are numbered. Christ knows how much everything else is going to go up by.
Fear, I haz it.

********************************************************

Time for a nervous musical interlude. Maestro! Bring on the grinning jackanape!

"Tragedy
When the feeling's gone and you can't go on
It's tragedy
When the morning cries and you don't know why
It's hard to bear
With no-one to love you you're
Goin' nowhere
Tragedy
When you lose control and you got no soul
It's tragedy
When the morning cries and you don't know why
It's hard to bear
With no-one to love you you're
Goin' nowhere"

Spirit fingers! We need more spirit fingers!!

Well, these things run in cycles and we haven't had the downturn part of the cycle for a long time. I was watching a bit of questions and answers last night and Leo Varadkar from FG was on the panel and the man couldn't stop grinning for the entire time. Indeed he was positively jumping up and down on his chair while the other muppet sitting beside him was spewing rabidly about having to cut the public service - as if we were the root cause of misery in the country.

I'll tell ya, the country will turn right wing in the next couple of years as things tighten and this leaves the door open for Libertas.
"Privatise health, privatise education, don't let the government run anything 'cause look what will happen". "Only big business can be trusted".

Be afraid, be very afraid.

Top rate of tax will go up for high earners, I'd guess a new band of 44%-46% on earnings over €50k.

We're getting to diminishing returns on drink and smokes so maybe not as much there as folks might think.

They'll be really worried by potential negative outflows on the social welfare / rent allowance side so they'll do whatever they can to discourage take-up there, and to encourage recent EU immigrants to return home or seek pastures new.

A redundancy scheme for non essential staff in the public service, esp those close to retirement.

Wholesale closure of state agencies, and the reabsorption of some into Departments, with fewer jobs.

Rigid spending limits on consultancy, pr, etc. Tough times ahead for spinners and report writers.

These days it's best to look white as a sheet, especially if you're selling austerity.

Hey Babe, long time. I hope you're feeling better after that little venting yesterday.
As for today, all I hope is that they don't increase the rate on capital gains tax ( I think they will ) in case some of us decide to sell up and get the fuck out of here.
Other than that, hows things ? Did you ever marry Hazeleyes ? Sorry, I havn't been keeping up.

It's like those fellas who go around with "crown toppers" really manky ones. Brrrrrrrrb.

Ronnie! Cousin! Top of the morning to you. If it wasn't still in the AM I'd be breaking out the very best rum. And by very best I mean any old bottle at all.
Fuck I really hope Capital Gains doesn't go up. That's completely shit. I wonder will they get rid of Stamp Duty again?

Monkey, what is a crown topper? Just a hair piece that sits atop the crown? Surely not.

An additional 200 euro for rental properties that the council will collect! That will get very messy for those not declaring rental income.

10 per person airport charges. So if you have an average family with 3 children you will have to pay an additional 50 Euro for your holiday.

An additional 8 cent per Ltr of petrol from midnight tonight.

It’s gayer than Ronan Keatings wet dreams.

I did fill up the car earlier pre-budget. Oh yes.
that's a big fucking cheeky about air travel tax too. But way-hay it's all good because the cyclists can off set some of their tax due to their cycling ways.

"cyclists can off set some of their tax due to their cycling ways"

I think I once bought a bike off the Min most likely to have suggested this. How is it supposed to work?

You tell people you're cycling to work and voila, tax reductions. I'm going to cycle to my office from the garage shed tomorrow.
