Joe O'Reilly is guilty.

I posted about this man way back, after watching him claim his dead wife was 'sleeping' on the Pat Kenny show. http://fatmammycat.blogspot.com/2006/12/joe-oreilly.html
I knew that moment in my heart he was as guilty as sin. I have followed the case closely since. I winced when I read the emails sent between him and his sister where he described his wife and mother of his two children as a 'cunt'. I knew he had stopped thinking of her as a person in her own right and now regarded her as a creature of revulsion and an albatross around his neck.
I thought of the anger it takes to bludgeon a woman to death and leave her bleeding for her mother to find. I knew that kind of hatred was personal.
I knew he was guilty.

Today I was heartened to see I was not the only person who thought so.
From breakingnews.ie

"Joe O'Reilly has been found guilty of murdering his wife Rachel O'Reilly.

There was a scream of 'Yes' from her family as the verdict was returned.

Joe O'Reilly showed no emotion, whereas Rose Callely, Rachel's mother, cried uncontrollably as did other members of the family.

Joe O’Reilly, 35, was accused of murdering his wife Rachel at their family home in Dublin on October 4, 2004.

He denies killing the 30-year-old mother of two at Lambay View, Baldarragh, the Naul, Co Dublin."

JOe O'Reilly robbed Rachel of her life, he robbed his sons of their mother and her parents of a daughter, her siblings a sister, her friends a much loved one. He showed not an ounce of compassion and he has played a poker face ever since.
But tonight Joe O'Reilly is going to pay for his crime, it won't cover the cost, but I hope it brings some peace to the family of Rachel O'Reilly.
Nothing more needs to be said.
RIP Rachel.

We read about that on holiday. What a bastard. How do these people ever think that they are going to get away with it? How? There'll be no more text message of love now then you cunt! (him, not you FMC!)

I know, FMC, he looked as guilty as Scott Peterson in CA did for killing his pregnant wife. The emails were nauseating, the fucker. Why don't they just leave? You don't have to kill someone to get out of a marriage!

All I kept thinking was how her poor parents must have felt listening to those emails being read out in court, the callous vicious way he and his sister spoke about Rachel was beyond comprehension.
Marriages break down, feeling are intense, but one way or another, if you ever loved the person some modicum of respect for them must remain. If you love your children, to destroy their little lives and slaughter their mother to further you own pleasure is beyond anything most decent people can imagine.
That man is a monstor in the true sense of the word.

i have followed this case from the very start as from the night i saw o riely on the late late show i knew he was guilty. It makes my blood boil to think of what rachel endured at the hands of that lunatic!
when you consider that the one person, outside your family, you are ment to trust with your life, who is ment to love you unconditionally could do such a terrible thing!
rachel can now rest in peace with the reassurance that justice...has finally prevaled

I hadn't heard till I read this FMC. It's surprising really when everyone was saying there was no evidence to find him guilty. I'm glad for her family that the jury came to this conclusion. Such a horrible case.

I like the way that prisoners who have committed despicable crimes will hate him because they'll have been reading all about it and his card will be well and truly marked.

Murder is murder because it is calculated. The attitude to this culprit suggests there is a sort of hierarchy (bad to evil) among murderers. As if the intentional killing of a rival dealer in Finglas or a feud murder in Moyross is in some way less despicable.

I don't get the hysteria around this case, especially the way it was seized upon by the tabloids almost, I would imagine, making it a harder case to try before a jury.

There are plenty of unsolved murders in this country (Sophie Toscan du Plantier, for instance) not to mind the countless disappeared presumed dead.

In the end a prosecution / conviction depends on the guards' ability to gather evidence. They are generally more successful in cases such as this than they are in cases involving gangland feuding.

Personally it was his appearance on the Late Late Show that caught my interest early on. That and the charade he preformed with her parents and the interview he gave.
Ian Bailey may well be equally as guilty, but I never saw him being interviewed so I never took as much interest in him as I did in Joe O'Reilly and I was just as horrified by Anthony Campbell's tragic murder as Raachel O'Reilly's death.
There are some murders that capture the public, Conan, no doubt about it, this was one of them.

Whoever may be responsible for any particular death, it is far better not to speculate. It may well make it harder to secure a conviction.

Sorry to buck the trend here folks. I don't think he was guilty. The prosection themselves conceded that the culprit would have been 'covered in blood' yet O'Reilly hadn't a drop on his clothing , skin ,nails or car.The thing that makes me even more sure he isn't guilty is the time frame between the cars caught on CCTV (that weren't even positivly identified by the way)coming and going past the quarry. The quarry is approx 1 minute from the house and the time difference on camera between what's meant to be his car coming & going is 18 minutes. So taking away a minute either way tht leaves 16 minutes for him to brutally murder his wife, stage a burglary & forensically clean the house & himself to such a degree that not ONE drop of blood(other than the blood on his shoes which matched the staining on Rachel's mother's clothing). The mobile phone evidence although I think it's what convicted him is not as fool proof as it seems. Check out the case against former Liverpool goalie Bruce Grobelaar and see how his defence team totally discredited the mobile phone evidence against him on that occasion. And finally ,although my heart goes out to the Callely family on the death of their innocent beautiful daughter, what about O'Reilly's family? What wrong have they done? Like the Callely's they seem like normal everyday people who through no fault of their own have got caught up in a media frenzy. They too I suspect love Luke & Adam very very much!

On annoymas county donegal's comment, d reason which may not have heard d full proofs and reasons why Joe o Reilly's 100% proved guilty and why his clothes were washed so quickly is because his mother washed his clothes for him and was at the murder scene his allaby was fake from when he said both him and his mom were not in the naul but he lied and was caught by phone signals. Although yes annoymas I would thourgouly agree with you that his family must be terribly upset as well as the calley's it must be horrific to them to have deal with this in their lives too, my love goes out to his mother, when I seen the documentary I felt so sorry for her the amount of panic and fear she must of had for her two grandson's people should also know their her grandsons and respect that also its not her fault she happened to be at a murder scene she probably felt she was branded as part of the murder when she wasn't involved in it. My condolences go out to both familys o calley o reilly family as they lost Rachel a wonderful mother, daughter, daughter in law. She or her sons family and friends didnt deserve this. As being a mother myself I couldnt imagine d awful tragedy she and her family(meaning both her families) have suffered. Rip Rachel you deserved so much more. Also a lot more awareness and diagnosing abusive relationships + helping women to support them in seeing the signs and Keeping themselves safe. Its also extremely common 1in5 women are suffering abusive relationships and domestic violence as we speak, which is perpetrated by a man who they love. Iv suffered abuse myself i left when i found d signs i agree with a comment on the e-mails been sent to his sister x x x.
