Talent, thy name is Paul Potts.

This dude won the 'Britain's Got Talent' show. I don't normally follow stuff like that but I made an exception for this show and I fell madly in awe of this dude. He's round, shy and totally adorable in his no nonsense way. Plus he has some set of pipes on him.

That was amazing - he was storing up all that music and feeling in the body of a shy wee bloke from South Wales. What a beautiful moment for him to shine and show all that off. I hope some recording label snaps him up quick because he's got talent by the spades.

Oh my God! I didn't watch that show at all because of the small snippets I saw while channel hopping I just thought it was too embarrassing to watch.
But he blew me away - fabulous to see peoples' reactions!

Yeeeah for him :-)

Fuck off Major. I know you're impressed.
Eva, I was so shocked to hear that voice come out of that chap, shocked.

I saw this the other day on another blog, and I was cringing when I heard him say he was there to sing opera. And then he sang. And simultaneously my jaw hit the floor, I got all lump-throated, and butterflies flew out me ears.

Amazing.

He does have that effect all right.

Whilst I agree he has a good voice, all that "shucks, but I'm shy, poor little me etc." stuff is cringmaking. I would have preferred that cheeky, stage kid, Eliza Doolittle kid to have won. No false modesty there. Also for opera, with all that passion, it's not enough to be able to sing it, you have to act too. (And the female audience have to fancy you - much easier if you are a smouldering Italian stallion)

cringemaking, even. Stand Paul Potts beside Andrea Bocelli - see what I mean?

I have never fancied Pavoritti. Not even when he draws his eyebrows on correctly.

I do like Bocelli, he makes my eyes tear up when he sing Ave Maria. Potts isn't trained, I'd imagine with proper training and voice work he'd be outstanding.

Well, that was a lovely little bit of Monday morning joy. Choked up, over here. I LOVED Simon's reaction!

Tears. Lovely.

But A- he's not that fat
B- his shyness is endearing, in that painful way
C- if he uses the winnings to get his teeth fixed, he's laughing.

Opera is Reiki for the ears. A jackhammer drilling solid steel is more musical. If I could put Bocelli, Pavarotti, Domingo on a fishing line and catch mackerel with them I would, except the fish have better taste.

I said round. He is round.
Conan, you and the paramour should meet. He gets all twitchy about opera too. I accept that it's not for everyone, but to compare it to that fucking reiki -spit spit-bollocks is a blow below the belt.

I'd rather hear opera than heavy metal - except for Motorhead.

I love Opera, but I'm compiling a new running list at the moment so I'm totally metaled up, Sometimes you need that energy to kick your arse up a hill. I ran in the Phoenix Park yesterday and as I was running up a glen two old folk passed me, chatting.
Nothing makes a gal feel more like a loser than watching old folk trundle past you and then away from you when your running.

I blame that Frank Patterson, gets the old folk all angry and running like cheetahs.

I'm was going to use a Twentyism to describe that man, but decided against it. Not funny neither.

Can it Twenty.

I'm disappointed though that his name's Paul. I thought it was "Pol Pot". Anyway, nice to see a Welshman winning something for a change, especially a Welsh phone salesman.

On another note, I bet Carphone Warehouse regret naming the business that. It's shit name for a phone shop, isn't it? Carphones? Eh?
